Whoever cajoled Anil Kumble into accepting the role of a commentator for the ICC World T20 needs an award. His inclusion in the Star Cricket commentary team is a masterstroke. It's good to see new faces on television sets and Kumble looks all set to join his fellow leg-spinners Richie Benaud and Shane Warne as fine describers of the game. He's not as direct as Ian Chappell (by the way, also a leg-spinner apart from a brilliant batsman) but is not conservative too, which a newcomer to the box can be.
For example, when Yuvraj Singh dropped a catch off Harbhajan Singh in one of the games, Kumble was quick to inform his listeners that there could be some entertaining dialogue in Punjabi between the two after the match over that dropped chance. It was a light-hearted comment but it showed that Kumble knows what his listeners would be tickled by.
The commentary during the IPL was disappointing but the World T20 has made up for it.

Star commentry TV has done a good job by inducting Kumble. In fact many people including me are fed up with the same old voices of Shashtri (good commentator but highly overrated crickteer), Gavaskar (master politician), Chappel (India hater)etc.

Cricket comentary should be dat of the gud ole days when radio was king. Cricket is goin the Golf way. Instead it should be goin d football or the horseracing derby way. It needs hype n hoopla ! The game needs a new brand of Comentators not necessarily excricketers. The excricketers can play the expert comentator role. Well d purist wud say dats not cricket !!!
